poppy seed cake.
my obsession with baking cakes has reached another high. This week I made three cakes. One for Netti’s birthday, one for the day after and one because I wanted to avoid uni work. Here we go:
Poppy Seed Cake
2 eggs, separated (for this, watch the video I posted earlier this week, how to separate eggs with an empty water bottle. Haha!)
1/2 cup of oil (sunflower)
1 cup of sugar
1 packet of vanilla flavoured sugar
1 yoghurt (natural)
1 cup of ground poppy seeds
1 cup of flour
baking soda

mix the yolks, the oil and the sugars. Add the yoghurt. Mix the poppy seeds, the sieved flour and baking soda and slowly add to the mixture, always stirring. My special ingredient is also a little bit of rum (and a little bit for yourself!). Whisk the egg whites and carefully mix it into the rest of this goodness. Then bake it for about an hour, 160°C.
When the cake is done and cooled down, melt some chocolate and put it on the cake. Then eat it with a Darth Vader spoon and a good brew.
I’ll add recipes of the other cakes later so you can all witness my cakey madness
